Fast Food – Too Convenient

As we all know fast food is very convenient, quickly prepared and easy to afford.  If we do make the choice of going to a fast food restaurant try to choose “healthier” alternatives to what you might normally order.  For instance if you are ordering a chicken sandwich, try opting for grilled cutlet instead of the breaded fried cutlet that normally comes standard, by doing this you are cutting a significant amount of grams of fat and calories.  If you must give in to your craving of french fries, try getting a small or child size portion, by doing this you are consuming less calories and saturated fat and if you want to make it even healthier try ordering a baked potato instead.  Most fast food restaurants in NYC list the amount of calories for each item on their menus, this is good in order to monitor your caloric intake when eating at a fast food restaurant.

Why should we eat less fast food?

  • Fast Food is extremely high in fat, calories, saturated fat, salt, and sugar.
  • Eating fast food frequently can lead to many health related problems.
  • Can lead to significant weight gain and does not contain the nutrients that provide energy to our body.
